Poppy Louise Littleton thinks vampires are cute and mummies are funny.  She’s positive a tarantula would make a perfect pet. All her imaginary friends are monsters. Is there anything that will scare her? Her sister, Petunia, is determined to find out…

In this inviting picture book, Jenna McCarthy brings us a new character who feels at once modern and timeless.  Girls and boys will recognize themselves in Poppy Louise (and maybe sometimes in her sister, Petunia) and will gobble up Molly Idle’s deliciously cinematic spreads, which highlight the drama of Poppy Louise’s escapades.

About the Illustrator: Molly Idle
Molly Idle graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in Drawing, and soon after accepted an offer to work for DreamWorks Feature Animation Studios. Molly now lives in Arizona with her brilliant husband, two wonderfully mischievous sons, and two snuggly cats.  Visit her online at idleillustration.com.

My Thoughts:
The minute this book arrived, my six year old insisted that we read it. So what did he think? He LOVED it! This is a book that’s written in a way that both little boys and little girls will enjoy and relate to. The story line and illustration are simply adorable. Poppy is a brave little girl and isn’t afraid of anything, but a lot of times her friends don’t understand. When Poppy asks her friend Finn how to get on the room, he simply replies “we don’t.” This isn’t the answer that Poppy was looking for. When she wants to go hiking in the dark, her parents point out that it’s late, but Poppy doesn’t care. Will her sister Petunia ever figure out if Poppy is scared of anything? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
