Evan-Moor Daily Geography

Recently our family was introduced to Evan-Moor educational books. I have looked at them over the years, but for some reason ever purchased. When given the opportunity through Timberdoodle to check out the Evan-Moor Daily Geography Grade 4 and Beginning Geography I couldn’t resist. Evan-Moor Geography Review

Evan-Moor Daily Geography

We’ve been using the Evan-Moor Beginning Geography with my first-grader and so far we have been very pleased. The Beginning Geography is recommended for grades K-2 and is based on National Geography standards. Beginning Geography4Inside this book you’ll find:

• 93 reproducible activity pages
• 2 full-color fold-out maps
• Geography Vocabulary
• Cumulative review pages for assessment
• Activities that easily fit into any social studies curriculum

Beginning Geography is divided into sections which make teaching even easier.
• Map Skills
• Landforms and Bodies of Water
• Continents and Oceans
• Around the World With Animals

Overall thoughts for Beginning Geography:

We have really enjoyed this book since we have added it to our curriculum at the end of Kindergarten.  This curriculum is usually done in the morning and we completely roughly a page a day and he always looks forward to. Depending on the day, we may be coloring, drawing, cutting and pasting and even writing. So as you can see, not only are we working on geography, but other skills as well.geography

Daily Geography 4

For my fourth-grader, I have been using Daily Geography 4. While this obviously has more writing than the Beginning Geography, it still not an extreme amount. I really appreciate the very generous line spacing. My fourth-grader writes very large and with some curriculum has a hard time getting his text to fit in the writing area. We haven’t really had a problem when it comes to this geography book.Daily Geography Grade 4

Before we started this curriculum, I went through and copied all the pages and placed them in a three-ring binder for him. The reason for that is the answer key is at the first of each lesson.

In Daily Geography Grade 4, your student will cover the following topics

• Globes
• Compass roses
• Map legends
• Grids and coordinates
• Map scales
• Physical state, region, and country maps
• Projections
• Road and tourist maps
• Historical and cultural landmark maps
• Population and product maps
• Climate and time zone maps
• Land use, product, and resource maps
• Political country, region, and continent maps

Each of the lessons found in the Daily Geography is correlated to the National Geography Standards. We do one page a day Monday-Friday and at the end of the week we do the simple recommended challenge. On average we spend around fifteen minutes a day on this curriculum.geography3
