I have yet another awesome product to tell you about from Timberdoodle.com. The Faber-Castell Paint-by-Number Museum Series is a must have for the upcoming school year.Faber-Castell Paint-by-Number Museum Series for ages 8+

Faber-Castell Paint-by-Number Museum Series

The Paint-by-Number Museum Series arrives in a set four, and allows your child to get more familiar with the works of four very different famous masterpieces. The paintings included are:

• The Eiffel Tower by Georges Seurat
• The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh
• The Japanese Footbridge by Claude Monet
• The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci

Each of the four sets include a 6″x 8″ canvas, pop up easel, brush, 6 acrylic paint colors and instructions.

In our homeschool, we have studied Monet and da Vinci so far this year. While we talked about the artists and looked at their different works, being able to add the Paint-by-Number Museum Series really added to the lessons.

Unlike most paint-by-number sets, you won’t find the numbers printed on the actual canvas. They do however, include a reference sheet so your little artist can choose to imitate the masterpiece or simply paint with their own style.paintbynumber2

Using the Faber-Castell Paint-by-Number Museum Series

My 9-year old chose to start with the Mona Lisa since he has always enjoyed studying Leonardo da Vinci. While obviously this piece isn’t going to look exactly like the original, it turned out great.  He didn’t finish it all in one setting.  Actually he would do a few colors and take a break, so I can’t really even give an estimate on how long it would take to finish it. There was a bit of blending and shading to do, and he loved mixing his own color combinations.  paintbynumber3

Once complete, they have their own easel you can display them on, which is great since he was super proud of his finished painting. We are very much looking forward to starting the next masterpiece, and to my surprise my twenty-four year old is planning on coming over to do a masterpiece as well.  She has always loved painting-by-number and like myself, she had no idea that you could get them without numbers on the actual canvas.monalisa

Overall, we have been very pleased with this set.  The Faber-Castell Paint-by-Number Museum Series is part of the Timberdoodle Third-Grade Curriculum Kit. However, it can be purchased separately with a SRP of $26.50
