On Black Friday, consumers are encouraged to flock to retailers when the clock strikes midnight, push through throngs of people and waste time in line. Savvy shoppers, however, can skip the Black Friday chaos, shop from the comfort of home and raise money for their favorite school all at the same time!
I personally used to be one of the people that would get up with the chickens, head to the stores and push my way through in order to get what I need. It seems that over the years though, more and more online retailers are making it easier to stay at home and get great deals while shopping in our pj’s. This part I love since having my four year old. I haven’t braved the stores on Black Friday in four years and honestly don’t miss it!
One site that I could kick myself for just finding is the General Mills Marketplace. It would seem with me having four kiddos and three of them being in school that I would have discovered this site sooner. Sure, we always send in our box tops to school (the classes have little competitions), but I never new that there was a site that allowed my school to earn Box Top points simply from me shopping at my favorite retailers!
General Mills’ Box Tops for Education Marketplace is an online shopping portal featuring more than 175 retailers, including retailers such as Target, Bloomingdale’s and Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Gap, GapKids, GapMaternity, Carters and so much more! With categories ranging from apparel and accessories to electronics and toys to travel, home and books and magazines, there is truly something for everyone on holiday gift lists!
Since 2006, purchases made through the Marketplace portal have raised more than $1 million for schools. Purchases through Marketplace help schools raise funds to keep extra curricular activities, aid field trips and fund school supplies. With each qualified purchase through Marketplace, eBoxTops are donated to a school of the purchaser’s choice. Schools can earn up to 15 eBoxTops for every $10 spent. More than 70,000 schools across the United State participate in the Box Tops for Education program.
Recently I checked out the General Mills online Marketplace and was very impressed! It had all of my favorite stores, it made shopping easy and it felt great knowing that our local school is going to benefit from my purchase! One thing particular that I loved about this is that I could type in a specific item that I was looking for and it would show me a list. This allowed me to find the best price for a specific item without me having to visit numerous sites and pricing them, also I earned 11 Box Tops for our school is AWESOME!! This will definitely be my go to place for Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
