Adorable cats get into all sorts of silly trouble in award-winning illustrator Susie Ghahremani’s debut picture book, Stack the Cats.

One cat sleeps. Two cats play. Three cats? Stack! With a simple color palette and delightful illustrations, Stack the Cats begins as a silly counting book for young readers. As the number of cats increases, the book gently adds more complex mathematical concepts – four and five cats teeter and totter, but six cats can comfortably stack in two groups of threes. The cats and stacks increase until ten cats are just too many. The countdown begins as the cats exit by ones and twos, leaving behind a lone three-cat stack. The book’s final page invites the reader to imagine how they would stack the cats and encourages your minds to play with key early math skills.

Susie Ghahremani is an award-winning illustrator and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Our thoughts:
Stack the Cats is just an a wonderful read. Filled with colorful and bright illustrations, it’s sure to delight even the oldest reader. My six-year old read this book to me a few times, and had fun each time we read it. It’s not only an easy read, but perfect for sitting down with a preschooler to go over counting, grouping, addition and subtraction. Highly Recommend.
