Max And Marla is day 2 of our 25 days of books. Written by Alexandra Boiger, Max and Marla delivers such an awesome message to children. Beautifully written to show a wonderful friendship and the things that can be accomplished with teamwork, determination and perseverance. 
Synopsis:
Max and his pet owl Marla are best friends, teammates, and hopeful Olympians who are ready for victory. with their helmets, goggles, and sled, they set off for sledding success-that is until they hit some bumps in the road. Rusty blades, strong winds, and a sudden cold may get in the way, but Max and Marla are determined. Tomorrow is always another day, and these two firm friends will keep turning obstacles into victory.
This beautifully written story shows that true joy is not found in winning, but in friendship. As Max and Marla face each roadblock in their way, their eternal optimism and dedication help them work together and coolly solve each problem.
About the Author:
Alexandra Boiger grew up in Munich, Germany as the youngest of seven children. It was a busy home with many stories, as one might imagine. After studying Graphic Design at the Fachhochschule Augsburg, Alexandra started to work in Feature Animation at Warner Brothers and Dreamworks. Her lifelong dream to become a children’s book illustrator and storyteller lead her to illustrate her first title: While Mama Had a Quick Little Chat, which became an award-winning picture book. In addition she has illustrated many more picture and chapter books. Now, ten years later, Max and Marla is her debut title as both author and illustrator. Alexandra lives in Northern California with her husband and daughter.
Our Thoughts:
This is such a delightful book for children. It’s such a well written story and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. It delivers such a positive message on not only friendship, but perseverance and teamwork.
