The experience of flying can affect different people in different ways. For some, it is the exhilarating start of a holiday or business trip. For others, it is a stressful ordeal that they cannot wait to be over. For most of us, it is somewhere in between. But the one thing we all have in common is the desire to arrive at our destination looking fresh and awake. With a few changes to our routine and attitude, we can enjoy our flight knowing that we will looking amazing when we land.
Tip 1: Enjoy It!
There are a hundred and one ways that we can pamper and beautify ourselves, but none of them really work if we feel terrible on the inside. If we feel anxious, stressed, or even just peeved, it quickly shows in our face. The key to arriving fresh and carefree is to feel fresh and carefree! So do everything you can to make your flight relaxing and enjoyable. What you wear can have a big impact on how comfortable you feel inside and out. Layers are a great option because they allow for both warm and cool conditions on the plane. Ensure you have somewhere safe to store your glasses if you are a glasses wearer and plan to sleep on the plane. If you’re a contact lens wearer, a hydrating formula is a popular brand for most wearers to combat the dry conditions of the plane. If you’re hoping to listen to music or watch in-flight entertainment, pack some good quality headphones. There is nothing worse than being saddled with a pair that don’t work or are dirty from the last user! Couple with cozy socks and a good book, and you’re all set!
Tip 2: Stay Hydrated
Many airlines offer complimentary tea, coffee, or juices, but there is no substitute for water. Juices are high in sugar and can us jittery if we are already suffering from nerves. The same is true of the caffeine in tea and coffee but they are also diuretics, so we will feel more dehydrated than before. Stick with bottled water and sip it regularly. It can also feel relaxing and luxurious to apply a nourishing hand cream or hydrating face mask if we’re brave enough! The temperature of an aircraft varies considerably because of the altitude. This means that there may have to be hot air then cool air blasted out at various intervals. This can wreak havoc with our skin and leave us looking parched after the flight. Stay hydrated both inside and out with moisturizers and water.
Tip 3: Accessorize!
When we step off the plane, it is likely that the last thing we’ll feel like doing is getting changed or “glammed up”. There are some subtle ways that you can upgrade your whole look for maximum impact with minimum effort. Firstly, throw on a pair of sunglasses. They hide a multitude of sins like sleeplessness and dehydration as well as protecting our eyes. Wrap a scarf around your shoulders for easy elegance but also to help adjust to the temperature of your destination. Scarves can be in materials that keep us warm or cool, so choose one to suit you. Slick on a tinted lip balm or flattering lipstick and you’ll look made up without having to do anything else.
Safe travels.
