60 Minutes of Motion #ClifKid

As parents we all know how important it is to keep our kids moving an active, but it can be a struggle from time to time trying to come up with new and fun ideas for them.  My boys love riding bikes, but it isn’t something they can do all the time.  We have a short area that they can ride in and we don’t always have time to load the bikes up and head for the trails.

We always hear that kids learn from watching their parents and I really believe that. As we were heading out the door one day for a bike ride I realized that they both had their trusty CamelBak bottles with them and a ClifKid bar.  I always grab up my CamelBak and my Clif Builder bar.

Did you know that the new U.S. research proves fit bodies lead to fit minds in children and I believe that.  If it holds true for adults, why would it not hold true for kids.  I know I can focus better and even more productive when I get my workouts in.  So in light of this I wanted to bring attention to National Child Health Day on October 6.  Also, October is National Child Health Month!

America’s Nutritionist, Mitzi Dulan, developed an exciting family physical activity program called 60 Minutes of Motion that’s available nationwide starting October 6. Not a 60 minute workout, instead the free program helps kids and parents mix and match easy and fun movement that builds healthy routines into busy schedules. The ultimate goal is that kids get at least 60 minutes of activity each day.

 
 

The 60 Minutes of Motion cards include:

 

  • 10 Motion Cards: One minute bursts of motion that have a specific movement, like star jumps, crab walks, or planks
  • 5 Activity Cards: Sustained 10 minute activities you can do solo or with friends and family
  • 5 Adventure Cards: Wild cards where words and phrases prompt you to choose your own imagination-fueled adventure
  • 2 Game Cards: Motion-filled games for hours of family fun and play
  • 1 Nutrition and 1 Hydrate Card: tips on hos to nourish yourself before, after and during outdoor play and activity.
