Labor Day weekend marks the official start for Back-To-School for most of us, which means crazy schedules and #4PMFreakOut time when the kids are hungry and wanting food in their tummies ASAP. That’s where Mezzetta comes into play.
They know as parents our life gets even busier when school kicks in and they have created delicious and quick recipes using their delicious products to help us get through the tough days.
We were sent an amazing gift basket stuffed full of their delicious products so that we could give them a try and also to help ease make life a little easier when it comes to preparing food in a flash.
We were sent the:
Garlic Stuffed Olives (one of my personal favorites)
Golden Peperoncini (another favorite)
Roasted Bell Peppers (absolutely delicious in a hummus dip)
Castelvetrano Olives
Kalamata Olives
They were all delicious. Some I had tried before like the Golden Peperoncini that I eat on EVERYTHING and some were new to me like the Garlic Stuffed Olives (where have they been my entire life). We did experiment with different recipes since I love cooking and trying new ideas and recipes in the kitchen. Below is one of my favorites that i actually pulled straight from the Mezzetta site. Food on a stick? The kids will eat it, no questions asked.

- 2 lbs. meat, such as beef, lamb, or chicken breasts, cut in 1” cubes
- Mezzetta Garlic Stuffed or Feta Cheese Stuffed Olives
- Mezzetta Whole Sweet Cherry Peppers or Golden Greek Peperoncini
- 1 pt. cherry tomatoes
- 1 large red onion, cut into 1” pieces
- Moroccan or Greek Spice Blend
- Salt and pepper
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Pita bread or naan bread
- Garlic herb couscous, cooked to package instructions
- Store-bought tzatziki sauce (optional)
- Soak wooden skewers for 20 minutes in water.
- Preheat grill to high heat.
- On each skewer, place 2 cubes of meat, 2 olives, a tomato and a few onion slices. Drizzle with olive oil and season generously with salt, pepper and spices. At this point, you can marinate overnight in the fridge or can cook immediately.
- Grill on each side for a few minutes until meat is cooked to desired doneness and olives and veggies have a nice char on them.
- Serve hot with pita or naan and a side of cous cous. Tzatziki makes a nice condiment as well.
