Better Lunch in a Snap!: Rubbermaid LunchBlox

rubbermaidAs we enter into the last part of August, most of us have started preparing for the upcoming school year.  There are new school clothes and supplies to be purchased. Along with the school supply purchases we always have to include a new lunchbox and of course containers to pack lunches in.

I have packed school lunches for many years since my girls never wanted to eat in the school cafeteria. Although we homeschool now, for some reason my boys feel they still need a new lunchbox for those “just-in-case” moments (co-op or activities) and along with those, we are always adding new containers.  I’m pretty sure it’s just habit at this point, or the fact that over the years…lunch containers have gotten cooler! Yeah, I’m one of THOSE people…you know…the people that get excited about containers and office supplies!

I’m not joking on the cooler aspect, especially if I compare containers and lunch bags to what I used for my lunches growing up (plastic sandwich bags and paper lunch sacks). They did improve in coolness (Is that is even a word?). When my girls were in school, but now with the boys…WOW! I get all tingly inside just thinking about how far they have come!! Speaking of cool containers, have you had the chance to check out the Rubbermaid LunchBlox collection for this coming school year. These are pretty awesome and can be used for all ages.

I first got a glimpse of these a couple of months back and was very impressed, so obviously I had to pick up a container or two…or maybe three. The Rubbermaid LunchBlox makes packing lunches so much easier! All the containers are BPA-Free, but not only that they are also dishwasher, microwave and freeze safe!  Seriously, those are the top things I look for when it comes to containers. The freezer part kinda knocked my socks off! I food prep every Sunday evening for the week and some of it goes into the freezer and pulled out the day before it’s sent as a lunch.  With these containers I can pop them directly in the freezer without having to bother with additional containers. WIN!

Not only do I love the fact that they are all the above, but they are also easy for little hands to open.  The struggle is real when you watch little ones trying their hardest to open their food containers during their lunch break.  I still see this today when I volunteer to help with Pre-K at times.  They are hungry and trying to get into containers, and let’s face it..teachers can only move so fast going from kid to kid in order to get their lunches situated.  I tested these on my four year old and he opened them like a champ! No struggles when it comes to these containers!.

So how do these kits work? For example, the sandwich kit includes 2 snack containers, 1 side container, 1 sandwich container and 1 medium blue ice.  Not enough containers for you in this particular kit? You can always size up to say the entree size, or you can simply add additional containers that are sold separately which will allow you to build your system in the best way for you.

If your kiddos insist on packing their lunch or you choose to pack them healthier options than what’s available at their school, the Rubbermaid LunchBlox containers are worth checking out for sure!
