One thing I do with my boys every day is read to them. It’s such a great way to spend quiet time and to watch their eyes light up with imagination. Recently we had the opportunity to check out one of the cutest books I have read in a LONG time titled, Fred Pinsocket Love Bananas.
The story is based on the I Love Bananas Song from Peter Apel’s Dinosaur on My Head! CD and features, of course, Spaceman Fred Pinsocket. You do get the free download with the book and it’s super cute! Every time my boys listen to the song, they crack up laughing.
So who is this Fred Pinsocket? Fred is a little spaceman who just can’t seem to get enough of his favorite food! Wanna guess what it is? It’s bananas of course! Kids and adults can sing along with Fred as he flies across the galaxy, gathers bananas by the bunch and loads them into his blue and silver rocket. Fred’s adventure comes to life in a super sturdy and colorful board book! The illustrations are super fun and designed to activate a child’s imagination. With every page we read of this awesome book, we have to stop and talk about it!
If you are looking for a new book to add to your little ones collection, this should be it! Although it’s in a board book it’s seriously fun for all ages. I have ended up putting the “I Love Bananas” song on my iPhone so if I’m busy and little dude wants to read it, he can start it on my phone and follow along in the book. It’s like a musical read-a-long!

Samantha, thank you for posting this great review about my book, Fred Pinsocket Loves Bananas. It is wonderful to hear that the illustrations are inspiring discussions, so “with every page…you “have to stop and talk about it!” That’s exactly what I was hoping for – fun, learning conversations between kids and parents! I also love that you’re reading to your boys everyday. We did the same, and our kids are avid readers now.
