Book Review: The Importance of Being 3

All the best things come in threes- not one, not two, but three-just like the adorable kids in writer and illustrator Lindsay Ward’s latest picture book, The Importance Of Being 3.the importance of being 3

About the book:

All the best things come in threes, not one, not two, but three, like the three-year-olds in this sweet picture book. As all parents know, three is a big year. Follow along as three friends learn new things in threes—from tricycles to triangles—take a dip in the pool, and play in the park with their friends! Of course, it’s not all fun and games. There’s a tantrum and then hugs all around as the three kids head to bed.

Our thoughts:

This was such a fun book to read. While I no longer have a 3-year old in the house, reading this brought back so many memories when my kids were that age. Three-year olds are always so busy exploring the world around them and learning more with each passing day.

The illustrations in this book are so fun and truly capture the energy and spirit of a three-year old. This book would also be a perfect read while teaching the number three. Throughout the book, the fun and exploring is broken down into 3’s. Such as:

“Visit the park.
Hop,
Swing,
and slide.”

Since this books is about the importance of being three and would be an excellent 3rd birthday gift, it’s a fun read for all ages. We have had this book for 2 days now and have read it over 10 times. It’s an easy read and the text flows. My five-year old and I take turns reading pages and words.
