Bugs…what little boy doesn’t love them?  My boys love being outdoors surrounded by nature.  This past summer my seven year old started snapping pictures of the bugs that we would find while we were outdoors and come in and research them.  He has made a little book of the bugs he has found in our area.

Recently we had the opportunity to check out Bugs Big & Small God Made Them All through the Moms of Masterbooks and we loved it!  Both my three year old and seven year enjoyed it.

About Bugs Big & Small God Made Them All

Within these vivid, full-color pages children will discover God’s purpose for creating insects, and the corruption caused by sin.  They will also see the world’s largest insects, insects designed with camouflage, the most beautiful insects, the weirdest insects, and more!

With their alluring beauty, incredible design features, and limitless variety, bugs are a living testament to an all-wise, wonderful Creator.  What you will see page-after-page are these creatures doing just what they were designed to do, and doing it well.  God is AMAZING!

• Why did God create such pesky insects?

• In what way are bugs signposts to God’s brilliant creativity?

• What types of butterflies are bigger than some birds?

All in all we really enjoyed this book. It isn’t over complicated so the boys really enjoyed learning from it.  The pictures are beautifully done and I love the way it ties the Bible into the lessons. When it discusses the bees it even talks about the issues that I have been teaching my boys for a few months now with the pesticides and man-made chemicals that is really hurting our creatures big and small in today’s world.

Another great feature of this book is that it has flash cards that you can pull out.  Once again, beautiful photography and on the back of each card it tells about the bug that is on the cover.  Where it’s from, types of food it eats, and the technical name as well.  I pulled our cards out and laminated them so that I could hang them up during the Spring when all the bugs really start coming out and then we will be really focusing on that topic at hand.

The Bugs Big & Small: God Made Them All can be purchased for $14.99 at New Leaf Publishing Group.
