As hard as it is for me to believe, the holiday’s are upon us again. It is about this time of year that I start to envy all of you ‘wrapped and ready’ people. I have not even attempted to tackle wrapping. Heck, I am not even done shopping. The one thing I do have a good handle on is baking. Today I spent the majority of the day making some delicious treats for family and close friends.
This years baking has been filled with brand new recipes. Yesterday evening I hosted a small get together with a few close girlfriends. We exchanged baked goods, had a couple of drinks and simply relished in the spirit of the season. I was so excited to share with them my new favorite company when it comes to unique baking, Cakes Under the Influence.
Cakes Under the Influence is a fun company designed to help celebrate adult milestones. Whether it is a 21st birthday, anniversary, or a promotion at work, Cakes Under the Influence has you covered with drink-inspired stemware for serving and various desert mixes. All of their stemware is constructed from very sturdy acrylic. The following drinks are currently available in stemware: martini, margarita, champagne and shot glasses. They are all dishwasher safe, easy to clean and best of all they are reusable.
There are various kits you can choose from based on your entertaining preferences. If you like to bake for you and a special someone the Two Under the Influence (TUI) is ideal for celebrating an anniversary or after a romantic dinner. The TUI kit also comes with an array of baking mixes that pair nicely with alcohol. If you are enjoy entertaining for a medium size group of people then the Entertainer Baking Kit that comes with twelve mini martini molds would be perfect for you. Cakes Under the Influence also has a kit containing cookie cutters and a hi-proof baking mix which is ideal for those who prefer cookies to cake.
For this review I got the opportunity to try out the fun mini-martini kit. The shipping was fast and presentation was very nice. The kit included the following: 6 mini-martini acrylic molds and bases, 6 aluminum stain-resistant baking molds designed to provide maximum heat conductivity, silicon mold stands that simply fit right into a cupcake pan, sturdy baking paper that easily moves from the aluminum mold to the serving dish without tearing and a Cocoa Cake Hi-Proof Baking Mix. The instructions were very simple. All I had to do was mix the baking mix with 2oz water or club soda, 2oz Baileys, 2oz banana liquor and 2oz Kaluaha. Mix it all together, fill each cup up 3/4 of a way with the mix, bake for a minimal amount of time and viola! I did however replace the Kaluaha with vanilla vodka because that is what I had on hand. Here is a picture of my cakes before going into the oven and after they cooled with a light layer of icing:
My Thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed this baking kit. There are several things that sets Cakes Under the Influence apart from other novelty baking companies. First, I like that each kit you buy comes with options. Whether you want to add-on more stemware or mix and match hi-proof baking kits the options are there. Second, I love that the mixes can easily be made without alcohol and still taste just as good. Add as little or as much as you want, follow a recipe or create your own, the opportunities are endless. The taste and presentation of these novelty treats are outstanding. Lastly, the ladies that attended my get together couldn’t stop oohhing and ahhing over how neat looking and tasty they were! They are definitely a nice sight for the eyes and a decedent treat for ones taste buds.
If you are looking for a fun gift for the baker in your life or if you have an upcoming event you are looking to celebrate, I highly recommend checking out Cakes Under the Influence. Connect with them on Facebook for more recipes, pictures and specials. I am certain you won’t be disappointed.
