Capture Holiday Memories with a JVC Picsio

With the holidays we all know comes special memories that we will cherish forever.  Some of those memories are because we get to see family members that we only see once or twice a year, it could your child’s first Christmas, etc.  I love being able to capture these moments on video, but to be honest I love capturing my kids on video in general.  It is such a joy to be able to go back and relive those wonderful memories of the past.

This season, JVC is making capturing those memories even easier with the new JVC Picsio Pocket Flash Memory Camera. One word to describe this little camera is “AMAZING” One feature that I love about this camera (well other than it is HD), is that it doesn’t just have internal memory.  What this means is that I can simply save my memories on a SDHC card. Unlike alot of pocket camera’s on the market that have the build in memory and will  not allow you to also add additional memory this does.  No matter where I am, I never have to worry about running out of memory.

The size if fantastic.  As you can see it is similar in size to my cell phone which means I can easily stick this in my back pocket and go instead of having to worry about holding it in my hand or over my shoulder the entire time we are out.

And needless to say it fits perfectly in my hand.  With the 2″ screen you can easily see what you are capturing on video.  The buttons are super easy to mash and so far I haven’t had any accidents of deletion as I have had with a past pocket video camera.

Easy to use? You betcha!  I will be the first to admit that I NEVER read directions.  I am a trial and error type person and this camera was so simple that directions are honestly not needed.  You simply pop in your SDHC card and you are ready to roll!  Seriously! It is that simple!  Now speaking on me being a trial and error type person, I forgot to put the SD card in and started recording over the holidays to realize that I went about a minute and was out of memory.  Luckily I always keep extra memory cards with me, but all I had was the average SD card.  I strongly suggest using the SDHC memory cards with this video camera.  Sure the SD cards will work but if you want to be able to see all the quality that this little camera delivers, do spend a little more and get the SDHC card.  By the way, I did have the SDHC card at home and really wanted to kick myself for forgetting it.

Sound Quality: I have used a couple different pocket cameras in the past and the one thing that I always noticed on them was the the sound wasn’t that great.  It always seemed so hard to hear the kids voices unless I was up on them.  With the JVC Picsio Camera I didn’t have that problem at all.  The below video shows just how clear the sound is.  I wasn’t near my son, but I did have it zoomed in.  It is easy to get up closer with the 4x digital zoom.  The sound quality was fantastic in my opinion. I have in the past been frustrated even when I did a Vlog only to find out that my voice was extremely faint though it felt as if I were yelling at the camera.  You will not have to yell any longer!

The JVC Priscio does more that just record movies, it also captures still images.  With a simple press of a button you are taken from video to still photo (8 megapixel).  You just snap the photo as usual and you with the same ease go back to video.  I will recommend however that you  need to be in a well lit area for your images to show up with good quality.  Simply because this camera does not offer a flash (it is a video camera afterall). We all know that without good lighting or a flash a picture can look grainy.  So if I am out the kids during the day, no need for me to bring an additional still camera.  I can just bring the Priscio and capture everything!

Let me tell you about some of the technical specs now:

  • 4x digital zoom
  • 1080P/30fps HD Video Recording
  • 8 megapixel Still Image Recording
  • “Menu-less” Simple & Easy Operation
  • Memory Card Slot for SDHC/SD)-Personally I would recommend an SDHC for better quality.
  • Convenient USB Battery Charging
  • Image Stablizer
  • HDMI™ and AV Output Terminal
  • Direct Sending to iTunes®/YouTube™ (.MOV file)
  • USB connection

If you are looking for an awesome Christmas gift for that someone special or even a special treat for yourself to be able to capture those upcoming holiday memories, then I would HIGHLY recommend the JVC Picsio Flash Pocket Camera!
