Confessions of A Prodigal Son

A lot of people aren’t super excited to watch faith-based films.  I love watching them on Netflix when I get a chance, but will admit that some of them are a little slow and obviously the budget is lacking.  It’s hard to know going in to any movie if it’s going to be worth your time, but with Confessions of A Prodigal Son, I say thumbs up and yes, it’ worth your time.

The Confessions of A Prodigal Son is a coming-of-age, modern, retelling of the Prodigal Son story. During this movie, we follow Sean (a Pastor’s son) as he takes part of his college fund into his own hands and uses it to begin exploring life apart for the rules and expectations he has grown up with.

Sean thought he had the world in the palm of his hand, until he met a girl named Ali.  Ali is a beautiful and strong girl and soon Sean finds himself questioning what he thought he knew. During this time he was living his life as free as he could with partying and loose living that was instigated by his troubled best friend Cameron.

We follow Sean on his journey to discovery, through pain, longing and love and he begins to learn that every choice he makes, steers him ever closer to what kind of story his life is going to tell.

Confessions of a Prodigal Son in my opinion is a powerful movie and one that I can relate to in a way.  I was a very rebellious teen and thought I knew it all too.  I distanced myself from my family and lived my life the way I wanted to. I too was writing a story that I wasn’t completely proud of, but when I was ready to come back..my parents welcomed me with opened arms and loved me just the same. Just the way God will always love us and and rejoice when we come back to him.  A parent (heavenly or earthly) will always love their children, no matter what!

Confessions of a Prodigal Son was a movie that enjoyed watching with my family and hope your family will enjoy it as well!  It will be coming to DVD on March 24th and has a SRP of $14.93.
