What’s for dinner? That is a question that gets asked all the time in my house. As we have been steering away from processed foods and trying to focus on more natural and home made choices that question has gotten even harder. Going to the store can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for when it comes to GMO foods. I know I look for a name I know and I want to see that it is hormone free and all natural when it comes to meats for my family. I had the opportunity to test out meats from Suzy Sirloin they stand behind their No hormones, No Antibiotics ever commitment. That is something I truly appreciate as a Mom trying to make healthy choices.
Suzy Sirloin
My husband makes a GOOD burger! |
We received Suzy’s Natural Ground Beef and Gourmet Meatball and Meatloaf mix. Both exceeded our expectations. With the Natural Beef we made YUMMY Burgers. My husband actually took over that task! All he did was shape the meat into patties and added a little bit of salt, pepper and steak seasoning. Pan fried and MMM! They were some of the best burgers! (If only it wasn’t winter here in NJ we’d have grilled!) I took over the Gourmet Meatball and Meatloaf Mix and made home made meatballs. They were so tender and delicious! (Recipe below!)

The ‘Suzy’ behind Suzy Sirloin is Suzanne Strassburger, a fifth-generation member of the iconic New York Strassburger Meats family. She recognized that consumers were becoming more health-conscious, and created Suzy Sirloin to provide easy access to lean, all-natural meats with no hormones or antibiotics for healthy and stress-free dinners.
Suzy Sirloin products are perfect for small family dinners or larger affairs such as backyard barbecues and kids birthday parties. Kids love the taste of Suzy Sirloin Sliders (starting at $6.99/lb) tacos, and Sloppy Joe’s made with Suzy’s ground beef ($7.99/lb). Parents love that they are 90% lean meat and 100% hormone-free.
Suzy Sirloin products are available at tri-state area grocery stores (Gristedes, Morton Williams, Westside Markets, Westerly Natural, and Frank’s Gourmet, to name a few) and sampler boxes can be ordered online and home-delivered (http://suzysirloin.com/products.php).
Lisa’s Home Made Meatballs:
3 packages of Suzy Sirloin Gourmet Meatball and Meatloaf Mix (approx 3LBS)
2 eggs
1/4 cup of Italian Style bread crumbs
1tsp italian seasonings
1/4 teaspoon salt, pepper, garlic powder & chopped onion (dry)
Mix well and make into round balls. Bake in 350 degree oven until cooked through. Top with your favorite sauce. (I like to put mine in the crock pot and cook in home made sauce the rest of the day on low until serving)
My thoughts:
This was a very high quality of meat. You could tell by the wonderful aroma when cooking. The taste was amazing. Overall we were very pleased and I’d say that it even exceeded our expectations! Everything was tender and juicy as it should be!
