Country Inn & Suites Day – Colonial Williamsburg

I wanted to start off by showing the pictures that we did take the day before at Virginia Beach. I finally retrieved my camera from the car this afternoon when we arrived back to the room from a fun-filled day at Colonial Williamsburg.

Here are a few pictures of the kids we took at Virginia Beach:

This is Neptune. Davis was really taken by this huge statue that greeted us at Virginia Beach

Remember I mentioned in my post yesterday how cold the water was at Virginia Beach. Well this is a picture of a little boy(Davis) that got wet and is used to warmer ocean water than what he was in. He immediately wanted me to take him to get some clean, dry shorts

Here are a few pictures of Davis and Angelica enjoying the playset that was on the beach. He enjoyed that much more than playing in the cold water.

Now for today (Sunday). After ofcourse we enjoyed our delicious breakfast here at Country Inn & Suites, we headed out to Colonial Williamsburg. We weren’t sure what to think about it since we had never been there before, but were excited to visit none the less. I will admit that I was a little disappointed in it, but it was mainly because I was thinking it would be more like a few other colonial places that we have visited in the past and we would be able to see demonstrations as we walked along. I will say that the first part as we were walking to the main area had a place set up so you could see how farmers lived at that time. now he really loved that. He was able to see the animals and it was nice to have someone setting at the front of the houses should you have any question and then they could tell you the history. That is what I actually thought it would be like once we reached the main part of Colonial Williamsburg. Instead we had to wait. For example, Davis wanted to visit the GunSmith, but for him to even visit that area we had to wait for an informative tour to start that eventually took us through the house which was about a 20 minute lesson and then we were able to move to the GunSmith area. By the time we reached that area he was restless and had to potty. He never was able to see the GunSmith, because we couldn’t just enter in that area to listen to what he had to say. It really is great for older kids, but when dealing with a 2 year old, he just really was too young for almost everything there. Now would I go back when he is older, you betcha I would. I can see him really enjoying it when he reaches about 7 or 8 years of age. Our 14 year old really enjoyed everything that we ran across there.

We stayed at Colonial Williamsburg for about 4 hours. We did the walk to the Colonial so that the kids could see how people used to live. I am so glad we did this walk, as this was Davis’ favorite part. As you can see in the upcoming video at the end of this post, he really enjoyed the pigs, so ofcourse I had to video it for him. We went into the jewelry store that you could purchase the jewelry and I did love that and was so disappointed when I found a ring that I really wanted it, but because I have these awful little scrawny fingers, I was unable to wear it. That particular ring only came in a size 6 and up. But it was a beautiful ring at a reasonable price.

Let me not forget the bus ride. We did take the bus back to the Visitor Center from Colonial Williamsburg and Davis loved that. He always gets excited when his big sister gets on the bus to go to school and was so excited to be able to ride the bus as well. Here are a few pictures of the kids in Colonial Williamsburg:

After we left Colonial Williamsburg, we took the kids for a bite to eat and then asked what they wanted to do. I am sure you can guess Davis’ answer to that question. He wanted to go to the Great Big Sandbox. Since that sounded reasonable and he was such a good sport at Colonial Williamsburg, we took him to Yorktown Beach. It was a beautiful drive from Williamsburg to Yorktown. Davis and Angelica really enjoyed themselves once we reached the water. We left there for another short little shopping trip back to Bass Pro and then headed back to the room where he enjoyed a few cookies and nice bottle of water on the front porch of Country Inn & Suites.

Thank you to Country Inn & Suites for making this last minute vacation possible! The hotel was in a great location and the rooms were always kept neat and tidy and we have wonderful memories to take back home with us!
