Disney’s Mickey & Friends Collection: Go Green! A Family Guide to a Sustainable Lifestyle!

We homeschool our children and I am I always looking for fun addtions to add to our daily learning.  Well this year, we wrapped up school at the end of March so our Spring Break was still going on during Earth Day.  The fun thing about homsechooling is that we never really stop learning if that makes sense.  Sure we weren’t actually having our daily lessons but we did study and learn about what Earth Day was and things we can do to make our world a better place during that week.

Disney Go Green: A Family Guide to a Sustainable Lifestyle was the book I used for that week.  It not only kept my seven year old’s attention but my three year old was interested as well.  This is an awesome book that is filled with information that kids can understand.  It’s a book that when read as family can be broken down even into smaller topics over a course of time.

Go Green is literally jam-packed with fun facts, tips and unique green activities and takes you and your little ones through detailed green practices that include: understanding your ecological footprints; the three R’s of sustainability (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle); creating season crafts; the importance of eating locally; how to grow your own organic garden and so much more.  We practice a lot of what was in the book already but to be able to bring it down and to show the boys actually why we do this was fun learning.  The activities that are in the book are simple and fun and will not even start to break the bank.  I love finding inexpensive activities for my boys and this book does offer them.

Further, the book explains that adopting a sustainable lifestyle will not happen overnight.  It starts with one step, then another and another.  The important thing is to remember that you are on your way, no matter how slow the journey feels, or how difficult the steps. Go Green! breaks down this complicated process into easy-to-achieve individual steps for the whole family.
