Both of my boys are huge fans of Dave Stotts’ Drive Thru History videos. Not only are they educational, but he always adds humor to keep their attention. Just recently Drive Thru History® has released a new captivating series called Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels” . This amazing program takes your child on a journey through the life of Jesus, according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Drive Thru History–“The Gospels”
“The Gospels” is a three-set DVD series that’s designed for all ages, and comes beautifully packaged in a full-color study guide.
Study Guide
Inside the study guide, the glossy pages are filled with stunning photographs from the Holy Land along with exquisite photos of religious artwork that can be seen throughout the episodes. You’ll also find a few pages for each episode that includes discussion questions, Bible reading passages, summary, and “Side Road” information that explains a little more about the topic covered per episode.
DVD Episodes
In this 18 episodes series, Dave Stotts will take you on a journey to visit 50 ancient sites in Israel while delivering the gospels in a fresh and compelling way. You’ll dive into the history, archaeology, geography, and art surrounding the birth, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. Dave does his best to harmonize the Gospel accounts and present them in chronological order.
Our Overall thoughts:
I originally mentioned that both of my boys really enjoy the Drive Thru History® series, but truth is, so do I. We opted to watch the episodes together as a family as part of our daily Bible study, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Dave Stotts seems to add humor at just the right time which keeps the kids interested and enjoying the episodes. I couldn’t imagine having anyone else taking us on a journey through the Gospels.
The journey through the Gospels takes us to over 50 ancient sites in Israel, which were absolutely breath-taking. Along with the actual footage of places being discussed, the series also includes a lot of beautiful artwork that depicted various events throughout the Gospels. I will say that while we loved the different artwork, we would have loved to see more of the actual footage.
After each episode, we pulled out the study guide, read the recommended Bible readings, then went through the questions that cover the episode we just completed. Some of the questions are a little difficult to answer, and I’ll admit that I wish I had teacher answers to help guide them through some of the questions, but all in all, it gave us a reason to dig a little deeper in order to answer them.
Drive Thru History® – “The Gospels” is hands down one of the best video series we’ve watched in a long time. We enjoyed every episode and the time we spent together as a family watching and discussing it. Just the other day, we wrapped up our last episode and a little sad that we finished it.
