What we received

ESA1

For our review, we received an online yearly access subscription to Essential Skills Advantage: Complete Home Learning Suite for both of my boys. With this online subscription, we basically had a variety of subjects at our fingertips as you can see above.

For my Kindergartner, we used the 1st grade phonics and math since we are near the end of the year.  The kindergarten phonics and math are perfect for those just starting out. He always looks forward to doing ESA, and I loved that he could work at his own pace. For the most part, he spends around 30 minutes a day using this program. esa7My third grader, for the most part, used this for math.  This has been a tough year for him when it comes to math and he really had enjoyed the ESA math options. While I asked them to do this program at least 30 minutes a day, it was not a surprise to find him doing the program more than that.

Here’s a quick peek of my kindergartner doing the 1st grade phonics.

Why we like this program:

The boys have to share a school computer, so with having the option to do ESA on the tablet is a really nice. Since they prefer using the tablet over the computer, I never had any complaints when having them work on ESA. Not only is it great to be able to use it on different devices, but it can be used with multiple students, at their own pace. As a parent or teacher, you can easily track their progress, and I really, really loved the fact that i didn’t have to assign them each a password. With all the passwords that we seem to have to remember in a day, it was nice to have the option of no password.

Overall Thoughts:

I can honestly say that we have really enjoyed this program. They have fun while learning and actually look forward to doing it.

Would I purchase this program?

If at any time after our subscription ran out I noticed one of the boys were struggling, this would be the program I would pick to help fill in those gaps. As far as pricing, I feel that it’s pretty reasonable. For both of my boys, it costs $69.99 a year for one student and an additional 99¢ for the other. If you aren’t sure you would use it for an entire year, there are other options available.

The prices are:

• $7.99 a month (1 student) or $10.99 (up to 10 students)
• $39.99 for 6 months (1 student) or $69.99 (up to 10 students)
• 69.99 for a year (1 student) or $129.99 (up to 10 students)
