My husband started introducing our son to GeoCaching right when he turned four. They have went on a lot of adventures. It is such a great bonding experience for both of them on top of them having a blast.
At first my four year old wasn’t the best GeoCacher. He would very loud and the ones where you leave something/take something would take him forever. He was more than happy to put something in but had the hardest time trying to figure out what to take.
Let’s fast forward about 8 months. My four year old has been asking for a GPS like his daddy has for when they go out. He wants to be able to locate the GeoCache on his own. Once he started asking, I started looking. I thought it would be silly to get him an advanced one like my husbands and I wanted something that would be child-friendly. About that time I discovered Geomate Jr.
The Geomate.jr comes preloaded with 250,000 geocaches covering all 50 states (or your country.) Just switch on the Geomate.jr, then follow the distance and arrow to the closest Geocache. The Geomate.jr will display the 20 closest geocaches to your location and it also gives you information about the geocache such as cache ID, difficulty, terrain and size.
Worried about getting lost? Don’t be you can set and save your home waypoint with the Geomate.jr so you can always find your way home. The Geomate.jr also saves your found caches, so you can review your found list at any time.
The Geomate.jr has a GPS compass. It can also display latitude, longitude and height. Making it a powerful navigational tool and a perfect companion to any topographic map.
The Geomate Jr. is an awesome product and we love it in our house. It does everything that our four year old needs it to do and it is the perfect size for him to hold. Anyone who loves GeoCaching would enjoy this as part of their Christmas List!
Geomate.jr is available for purchase at major outdoor retailers including REI, L.L. Bean, Gander Mountain and Eastern Mountain Sports.
