Grapevine Studies

We do Bible study in our house daily, along with the boys each reading from an age appropriate daily devotional. Since beginning Grapevine Studies Resurrection lessons, I have never seen my boys so excited to begin our daily Bible study. Something about those little stick figures encourage them to want to learn more and more, which makes this mom’s heart very happy!

What is Grapevine Studies

Grapevine Studies is a fantastic children’s Bible study that is designed to help children learn major characters and events through stick figures. Children can listen to the Bible story and add stick figures that match the passages. At the end of each lesson, there are questions that you can ask.

Grapevine Studies starts out with traceable lessons for the younger children and then once they reach first grade, they start introducing them to the timeline of biblical characters and events. As children get older, more and more is introduced to them such as: basic Bible geography and how to use Bible study skills such as a Bible dictionary. Some of these skills I didn’t learn until later in life, and looking back I think how awesome it would have been to have learned this at a younger age.

Not sure where to start

Getting Started

If you opt for the digital version, you will need to print one copy of your student workbook for each of your children as well as the teacher manual.

We are currently working through the Resurrection study. We are using the Beginner Student and Student books. My five-year-old is using the beginner student since it allows them to just trace the image, and my eight-year-old is using the student. It’s so fun watching them draw out their little stick figures with each lesson. Little does my five-year-old know..not only is he learning about the Bible, but tracing his figures is also improving his handwriting skills.

Will I need to purchase additional supplies?

The supplies list is very short and probably includes items you already have at home.
We used:
• 1/2″ 3-ring binder
• pencil and/or colored pencils
• Bible

That’s it! The binder is completely optional. I use it simply because it makes it easier to organize and the kids are able to just go and grab theirs off the shelf when it’s time to begin the lesson.

How We Used It:

In the Grapevine Studies Resurrection: Beginner your child heads back in time to Jerusalem to study the last week of Jesus’ earthly life. The lessons begin with the Last Supper and ends with Jesus giving His final instructions to his disciples before ascending to heaven.

Beginner: Resurrection is made up of 22 daily lessons or 11 weekly lessons depending on how you choose to use it. We opted to use this as a daily Bible study since my boys couldn’t get enough of it, but either way would be great. If you do choose to do it 1-2 days a week, there is a weekly lesson plan on how to use the study. At the beginning of each lesson is a memory verse and the lessons are broken down into sections. It starts out with suggested read aloud from the Bible, guided discussion about what was just read and then having the children draw the verse that was just read. There are also suggested words to look up in a Bible dictionary as well as a lesson review at the end.  grapevine2

One of my absolute favorite things about stick figure drawing is anyone can do it. The teacher’s manual does give you a sample drawing so that you don’t have to make one up. You can draw it on a white board or on a sheet a paper to show the kids. Since my five-year old’s is traceable, I usually just draw on a sheet a paper for my eight-year old to get an idea of what to draw.

Resurrection Garden

This is an amazing program and my boys walked away learning so much at the end of the Resurrection study. To go along with the study, we decided to make a little Resurrection garden that should be ready to go come Easter. It was super easy and they loved helping with it.resurrection

Fields of the Woods

We also have an amazing place where we live called Fields of the Woods. I loved going there as a child and with this study, we opted to take the boys there for a visit. It offers the ten commandments, Golgotha, Psalms of Praise and so much more.  It’s an amazing place and they loved every minute of it and constantly throughout were talking about what they learned during their Grapevine Resurrection Study.fields of the woods
