Halloween Fun: Where’s My Mummy Book Review

I believe that everyone should read to their children. There is just something magical about a child’s imagination that allows them to actually feel as if they are going on the adventures that are in the book.  When my girls were little, we read all the time.  I can say that we probably devoted at least an hour or so a day to just reading.

Where’s My Mummy Book

Today, both are teenagers and that love of reading is still there!  When Davis was born, I immediately pulled out their baby books and started reading to him.  He is now 2 1/2 and shares the same love of books as his sisters.   With him, we sometimes spend over an hour a day reading.  This isn’t all at one time, but spaced throughout the day.  He has a few favorites that we have to be read daily, but loves being introduced to new and exciting adventures.  I always know when we successfully find a new book to add to the daily reading as he is sure to bring it to me often.

Recently I introduced him to a fantastic little Halloween book by Carolyn Crimi. I love reading books about the seasons or upcoming holidays as it really helps little ones not only understand but get’s them excited about what’s to come.  The title of this book is called, “Where’s My Mummy”.  This title is very fitting for my son as he always has to know what I am doing at all times.  If the title didn’t catch your eye, I am sure the cover would.  The cover of the book is what caught my sons eyes.  The illustration is very crisp and well done which really adds to the story.

“Where’s My Mummy” is suggested for ages 4-7, but my son being only 2 1/2 really enjoys this book! It is super fun to read. In this story, Little Baby Mummy going on an adventure to find Big Mama Mummy. Through the adventure you get to make these wonderfully fun sounds as you read.  For example, where Baby Mummy goes into a cave he hears Glug Glug Glip, Glug, Glug Glop, etc. This part is one of my sons favorites.  I think it’s because he loves hearing me make the silly sounds.  At the end when Little Baby Mummy gets scared, Big Mama Mummy is just around the corner to comfort him. It really couldn’t have a better ending!

Little Baby Mummy wants just one more game of Hide and Shriek before bedtime.  But who will comfort Little Baby Mummy when a small scritchy, scratchy someone gives him a scare?  Big Mama Mummy, of course!
