Book Review: Here Comes Valentine Cat

If you have never heard of The New York Times bestselling Cat, from the series, “Here Comes Cat” then you are totally missing out! I say this because our family has just discovered these adorable and humorous books and I feel we’ve missed out! Here Comes Valentine Cat

About Here Comes Valentine Cat:

Cat does NOT like Valentine’s Day. It’s much too mushy, and no way is he making anyone a valentine—especially not his new neighbor, Dog. Dog refuses to respect the fence: He keeps tossing over old bones and hitting Cat in the head! But just as Cat’s about to send Dog an angry “valentine” telling him exactly what he can do with his bones, Dog throws a ball over the fence. What is Dog playing at? Cat is in for a hilarious—and heartwarming—surprise in this story about being perhaps too quick to judge.

Our thoughts:

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and the narrator asks Cat if he has any plans. Cat doesn’t have plans and only wants to celebrate with his stuff squid. Then he says that a dog has moved next door and he thinks the dog is annoying. He wants to send dog to the moon, or maybe send him a not very nice Valentine’s. In the end though..cat has a change of heart and sees that dog is really just wanting to be here friend.

We found this book to be such a cute and funny book! It goes to show how easy it can be sometimes to misunderstand someone.  We loved the simplicity of the illustrations. As you can see in the video my five-year old did below, he loves the illustration as well as the story line. He cracks up every time we read this book!

Must read for all ages!!

My five-year old adores Here Comes Valentine Cat so much that he had me do a video of him showing it to the world.
