My boys love Hexbugs! We have had enjoyed them for many years and now with the new Hexbug V2, the excitement of owning them is back! Recently we had the opportunity to host a Hexbog Nano V2 party and it was a blast. We served pizza and snacks and of course pulled out all the tracks and V2’s for the kids (and adults) to build and play with.
We tried a challenge with building a cool one and let’s just say after 3 hours we admitted that the Hexbugs won and we lost. With all the awesome minds working together and all the ideas it got rather interesting. That and the little kids didn’t want to combine their awesome tracks with the bigger tracks. Although the Hexbugs won when it came to creating an awesome track, the fun that was had during all this was amazing!
We had from ages 3-37 working on this track which helped add the fun. The kids bring something special to the table with their imagination that just can’t be beat! The three year old were the testers. Once we would get so far with the tracks, they would send their bugs through to see how it worked. If the bug got jammed then we knew that our track was leaning and we would change the design.
If you haven’t heard of them, the Nano V2 are the newest addition to the Hexbug family. Unlike the traditional Hexbugs, these little guys can climb which is pretty neat. We seriously had our doubts at first but were quickly impressed with how great they do! With our above video we only had one Hexbug going..when it really gets interesting is when you put about 10 in there at one time. As you can also see in the video, while we run it we see spots we missed when it comes to closing the gates. The challenge is never ending. After taking us three hours to put this together, it was torn down and another design was later build. With the additional Hexbug Nano V2 we received, some went home to new families so that the kids could continue to enjoy them. Since it is hard to see how they work by watching our video, here is the V2 commercial for them. Ok, it is true with the dog part as well. Our big dog had a blast with trying to catch them through the tubes.
So are you curious how these little guys can climb and the others can’t? The Hexbug Nano V2 is an evolved Nano, sporting a new look with three rubber spikes on its back. The tiny micro robotic creature uses the physics of vibration to scurry up through multiple levels of tubes, as high as your V2 set will take it, to explore its environment. These quick little critters crawl through tubes on its feet or on its back and can pass another with ease through a single tube which is awesome because that means no worries with a traffic jam! The Nano V2 will even flip to its feet when landing on its back on an open flat surface. With any Hexbug products your little one is sure to be excited to find them under the Christmas tree this year and the great thing about it is you don’t have to spend a fortune to just see if this is the type of toy they like. Hexbug Nano V2 sets start at $14.99 for a simple track and a Nano V2. Your kids will love this smaller track if they feel they need to take toys in the car every time you leave the house. The track locks into an oval shape so there is no chance of dropping the little guy out and having to find him. Now the ultimate Nano V2 track is the Black Hole which is AMAZING! In our video we had a couple of them spread out. The kids weren’t quick to turn those loose during our track building. They all claimed track so it was working with what we had for them. What this does is when your V2 follows the track and climbs up the hill you can have it to where it drops down into the hold and then it has other outlets it can travel on to quickly go on other tracks.
If you are looking for a different type of toy this year for the holiday season, don’t forgot to check out the line of Hexbug products. My boys have loved them for years and I have a feeling that they will still love them for years to come. Not only are the bugs fun to play with, but the challenge of building the track different every time makes it a toy they never get tired of!!
