I love cooking and experimenting with different recipes. The problem with trying different recipes is that at times it may call for an expensive ingredient. You know, those ingredients that chances are you might end up throwing out half of it because you never finish using it? Not only that, but those specialty ingredients can add up quick at the check-out line. Those two factors (price and wasting food) are two reasons while I’m very selective about the types of dishes I prepare for our family. That was until I discovered Home Chef! This company allows me to create delicious recipes without the hassles of wasted food and fighting the lines in the grocery stores.
How Does Home Chef Work
When you sign up at Home Chef you can choose your food preference, but keep in mind that you are free to change that at any time. So if you are vegetarian, gluten-intolerant, or have certain allergies there are meal plans available for you as well. Once you select the meals you want to try, you can then select what day of the week works best for you as far as the arrival. I always pick Wednesday because usually mid-week is when I realize that I just have to run to the grocery store, and this saves me from having to do that.
Not only can you choose the meals you want to serve your family, but you can also choose the serving size (2,4 or 6 servings) that you would like to order. For the most part, the meals are priced at around $9.95 per serving.
When the meals that you selected arrive at your door and everything is packed beautifully. Ours was packed with ice packs, and all the produce and meats arrived fresh. Each meal is divided out in its own bag, so you can just take the pack from the box, and place it directly into the fridge.

Now this is just as important to me as the ease of preparing the meal. I love a lot of flavor in my foods, so a bland recipe is something that I want to avoid. All in all the recipes are amazing. I love how the back of the recipe card is laid out, so even the beginner cook will know how to prepare the meal. The step-by-step instructions help ensure that the meal will turn out perfect every time!

Prep time is going to based on how fast you can chop veggies and get things going in the kitchen. For the most part, I rarely spend more than 30 minutes from start to finish and that’s counting preparing a second meal for the kiddos should the Home Chef meal be something they aren’t fond of. I love the ease of having everything pre-measured and just exactly the amount needed for the recipe. This allows me to try different foods without the waste.
One of our favorites was the shrimp and grits, but they were all awesome.

Then no worries. You have the recipe card to keep. On the front side it has the measurements that you used when preparing the meal, so there is no guess work at all. I love this feature because we have had a few favorites and it’s super easy to pull the recipe card and prepare it again. Each recipe card is hole-punched and ready to store in a three-ring binder for quick reference at any time.
What is the cost?
The average meal is broken down to around $9.95 per serving, plus orders over $50 qualify for FREE SHIPPING! Want to save even more? Right now you can save $30 off your first order! How awesome is that?
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, that’s the beauty of this. You can cancel or even pause your account at anytime with just a push of a button.
