It’s hard to believe that we are already on week 13 of our homeschool. This year is flying by and it’s been amazing!
This week we did have a field trip scheduled, but it either fell through or we were in the wrong location. No one was there, and we weren’t exactly sure what all the field trip involved. We were a little bummed that it didn’t happen, because part of the field trip was suppose to show the about film making, which would have been an amazing fit with our Christian Filmmakers Class. Since that wasn’t happen, we did end up running a few errands and then headed back home to knock out our school work for the day.
Also this week, we took little Luke to go get his very first library card. He was super excited about this, and has loved using his own library book when it comes to checking out books.
We ended up changing our 4th grade language arts curriculum and it’s been amazing so far! We went from Apologia to Well-Trained Mind First Language Lessons. It’s a little more hands-on but it works great for us. Plus, I can tell he’s really getting it.
Also, since stepping back on the math work and working on just math facts, I can tell a huge difference when it comes to his work. He’s feeling much more confident with multiplication which is a wonderful thing. This has been a hard area for him, and now it seems to all be coming together.
We’ve also been doing a mini-unit on Thanksgiving and will be wrapping that up this coming week just before Thanksgiving arrives. We have used the Evan-Moor Thanksgiving book and done the activities and suggested reads with that, and also have headed over to Schoolhouse Teachers and added their Thanksgiving lessons along with it.
