How many times have you been on the road traveling, hiking for the day or just out and about and your phone dies or in my case, it’s usually the tablet from the kids staying entertain during a road trip? It seems to happen often in our house simply because I am terrible at making sure everything is charged before heading out the door.
Recently our family has had the opportunity to review IOGEAR GearPower portable battery line. The model we reviewed is the GMP12K Capacity Mobile Power Station. This comes equip with USB outputs for 2 devices, 2.1A charging and a huge 12,000mAh capacity. Impressive right? Well, what’s more impressive is that this little device is pocket size! I love that I can toss it in my purse or even a hiking or biking bag when we are out and about.
The GMP12K serves as a batter extender to your mobile devices but is also a batter charger when conventional AC outlets are not available. It’s compatible with almost all smartphones such as the iPhones and Samsung Galaxy, tablets, handheld gaming systems, digital cameras and mp3 players.
Here is a diagram to show how it works:
We have been giving this a try and couldn’t be more pleased with it. Just recently I was in a position to where I had my point and shoot camera with me. I don’t use it a ton, so it never occurred to me to check the batter life. Well what do you know? When we were almost to where we needed it, I pulled the camera out and it was dead. A small charge using the USB port and we were good to go! I have also used this during road trips in order extend our Kindle Fire HD’s life.
If you are on your smartphones and other portable devices throughout the day and are at times needing a way to charge it, this is an product that I can’t say enough great things about. Here is a picture to give you an idea of the size.
This particular model has a SRP of $59.95, but there is also smaller models available.
