A few weeks back Caroline turned three. For some reason turning two didn’t seem that big of a deal to me but three is a whole different story. It seems that overnight she went from playing with baby toys to suddenly playing with big girl toys. She is starting to like the princess’ which is completely foreign to me being that I had zero interest in them as a child. She is also into playing dress-up and turning anything and everything into one of two things with her magic wand, a princess or a frog.
It seems that almost every store we go into Caroline spots something fit for a princess. When I got the opportunity to work with Jakks Pacific on a review featuring the Little Mermaid you can imagine just how excited I was! Jakks Pacific recently sent us a Little Mermaid Light Up Dress and Instrument Set that is absolutely lovely. The Disney Princess Ariel Musical Light-up Dress is a beautiful mermaid line dress filled with lots of sparkle, bling, lights and music. A small motion sensor within the dress allows little Ariel’s to dance, shake and twirl with one simple click. This dress is ideal for ages 3+.
The Disney Princess The Little Mermaid Instrument Set is a one of a kind musical set for ages 3-5. The set includes a set of bongos, a trumpet, microphone, two maracas and a tambourine. The maracas feature both Flounder and Sebastian while the tambourine features Ariel herself. They are small enough for little hands to use but not small enough to be considered a safety issue.
The DreamPlay app comes with each of these items. The DreamPlay app allows toys to come alive as little ones interact with Flounder and friends. Whether your little princess wants to mimic the sounds of Sebastian the crab, create their own music, decorate fish or create an under-the-sea band, the DreamPlay app makes it possible. Simply press the motion sensor on the Little Mermaid Light Up Dress and watch as a beautiful school of fish lead your princess in various dance routines including the Waltz and Calypso to name a couple.
My Thoughts:
Unlike other princess items we have gotten in the past, these toys from Jakks Pacific are holding up very nicely. They are sturdy rather than flimsy and cheaply made. They DreamPlay app is a free download at Itunes and is very easy to use. Caroline has been so having so much fun interacting with Ariel and friends and it seems that each time we start the app up we always find something we missed the time before. Because of this, it is a toy that will hold her interest for more than a couple minutes which is a success for wondering toddler minds! If you are looking for a fun, well-made toy with an educational aspect to it, I highly recommend both of these items for the little princess on your shopping list this holiday season!
