It’s hard to believe that I’m actually writing a post on Kindergarten curriculum. It doesn’t seem real that our little L is actually old enough. The time sure has flown by.
We are going on our third year of homeschooling and every year gets a little easier. I still remember my first year of homeschooling. I was terrified and so lost with all the curriculum choices. A couple of weeks ago, I did a post on what we’ll be using for D for his 3rd grade year… Now it’s time to talk about the curriculum I am using for L.
This is my first time homeschooling Kindergarten. D was in public school for Pre-K and Kindergarten, so I have done tons of reading to find what I hope will work. I have decided to not go with just one curriculum program, instead I have decided on a variety. So here we go….
LANGUAGE ARTS
And since we have enjoyed Ziggy in the All About Reading: Pre-Reading, we will be adding in addition to the Level 1:
All About Reading Level 1 Ziggy Supplement
KEYBOARDING & HANDWRITING
Handwriting Without Tears: Letters & Numbers for Me
Keyboarding Without Tears
So far we really like this program. The only thing I would change about this program is maybe have it say the letters and shapes as they work on those.
MATH
BIBLE
ART
HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY
With History, I don’t have every single book pieced together just yet, but will be adding the below. My third grader will be studying early American History this year, so I will do a more simplified version for my youngest.
The Usborne Book of Living Long Ago: Everyday life through the Ages
SCIENCE:
Weather
How A Seed Grows
Isaac Newton and the Laws of Motion
Caterpillars and Butterflies
Under the Sea
Where Do Chickens Come From?
Tadpoles & Frogs
The Berenstain Bears’ Big Book of Science & Nature
READ ALOUDS
The Arnold Lobel Book of Mother Goose
The Llama Who Had No Pajama
Richard Scarry’s Please & Thank You Book
The Boxcar Children
Little House In The Big Woods
Charlotte’s Web
Johnny Appleseed: The Story of a Legend
Beezus and Ramona

I have never checked out the Mathematical Reasoning. I’ll have to look into it. 🙂
