LearnBop For Families

This has been a tough year for my third grader when it comes to math. He has never been overly excited to do his math but has had a very hard time at grasping his multiplication. Knowing that he needs the extra math help, we were excited to get a 12-month subscription to LearnBop for Families from LearnBop.LearnBop
LearnBop has been part of the K-12 public school system for some time, however, they recently opened up their program to families. Their interactive math program is recommended for grades 3-12 and makes it very easy for the student to work at their own pace.LB_FB_carouselAdaptiveLearning_zps3639yp7h

We originally planned to start LearnBop at the fourth-grade roadmap since we had just wrapped up our third grade math year, however this wasn’t such a great idea.  Since we had yet to cover fourth grade math, my little guy was getting frustrated because he couldn’t do it.  While LearnBop does an excellent job with showing the children videos followed up by math problems he was still struggling. After they miss a problem, it  takes then into a step-by-step to help them understand. While this is an amazing feature, he was still getting pretty frustrated.  That’s when we decided to knock it down to the third grade roadmap. This felt like a good move since he is still struggling with multiplication and the third grade was going to help with that. Product Image LearnBop_zps0oo9ynrz

What is this Roadmap I’m talking about?
The cool thing about LearnBop is that it has what’s called Roadmaps. This is a personalized path that adapts to meet the students where they are. This is where they watch the lesson video, and have the math problems that follow. Throughout the entire program your student will receive positive reinforcement.fam-motivation

The positive reinforcement and the ability to make it their own was a hit for both myself and my little guy. When they first sign in, they can choose a custom avatar and theme. My little dude decided he was going to be an astronaut. It’s cool that it isn’t just an avatar, but each character has a special math power. The astronaut has the math power of Newton’s Law of Motion. As your student works along in the program, they receive achievement rewards along with the positive reinforcement.

While we did end up doing this program together, I have to say that all in all it seems very well-rounded. Once we got our little guy on the correct roadmap, he actually started enjoying this program.  He is a whiz at word problems, so obviously those were his favorites.  Poor mom here, has to write those down, while he figures them in his head. It’s perfect for filling in the gaps and helping those children that can be struggling. I can definitely see how any child would benefit by doing this program through the summer months.
