Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and it’s almost time to start preparing for Santa. My boys have had a wish list made out for sometime, and are looking forward to mailing their letters out to Santa on the weekend following Thanksgiving. I mean, after all, we have to let Santa enjoy his Thanksgiving too!
With that being said, have you heard of the Letters To Santa Program that is offered through the U.S. Postal Service? It’s such a wonderful and fun way for the kids to not only mail a letter to Santa, but to also receive a reply back from him!
Now don’t get me wrong, I love the pre-made letters as much as everyone else, but this is such a fun and unique idea that we are going to be participating this year. It’s much cheaper than the pre-made letters, and it’s a way for me to personalize the letter even more.
So how does the program work? Well, I’m glad you asked!
First off, have your littles write their letter to Santa and place it in an envelope addressed to: Santa Claus, North Pole. I’m sure it won’t take much convincing at all to have them write or even draw out their letters.
Once the letters have been written, you may have to open the envelope back up in order to personalize your response. This obviously is going to depend on how secret your little one is when it comes to their letters to Santa. Mine are pretty open with everything on their list, so it does make it easier.
Once you have written your response letter, place it into an envelope and address it to the child. Add the return address: SANTA, NORTH POLE, to the envelope, then affix a first-class mail stamp to the envelope (be sure to check out the awesome holiday themed stamps)
Place the complete envelope into a larger envelope (Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope or similar in size) with appropriate postage and address it to:
North Pole Postmark
Postmaster
4141 Postmark Drive
Anchorage, AK 99530-9998
“Letters from Santa” must be received by the Anchorage, AK, postmaster no later than Dec. 15. Santa’s helpers at the Postal Service will take care of the rest.
Merry Christmas!!
