Brother and sister Jack and Annie always go on important missions in the magic tree house, but this time they must save an entire town! The town is Nome, Alaska, and the year is 1925.  Many children and grown-ups are sick and dying.

The medicine that will save them is coming from Anchorage, a thousand miles away! More than half of the journey must be made by dogsled over the snowy wilderness.  Dogsledding teams are on the way when a blizzard hits.  It’s up to Jack and Annie to find a lost team led by the famous sled dog Balto.

Our thoughts:

We have loved both of these new additions to the Magic Tree House collection.  I read the first couple of pages to my five-year old and he is now hooked on the series. He usually has a hard time with us reading chapter books, but he looks forward to reading both daily.  The accompanying Fact Tracker really adds to the experience.
