MasterBooks Biographies of the Revolution Curriculum Set

This year in our homeschool, we have focused primarily on American history.  This is a subject that not only I enjoy teaching, but both of my boys enjoy learning it as well.  Their curiosity and eagerness to learn makes it so much fun!  That’s one of the reasons we are loving the Biographies of the Revolution from Masterbooks.Biographies of the Revolution

Biographies of the Revolution

Throughout the year, we have used a variety of resources.  Some have been outstanding, while others have just been alright.  For the past month, we have added The Fight For Freedom from Masterbooks and it’s been amazing!

The Fight For Freedom is laid out in a story format.  It’s broken up by amazing photos that completely captures the reader’s attention and leaves them wanting more!  This particular book focuses on the Biographies of the Revolution, which has given us a chance to dig even deeper into what we have studied.  It introduces them to leaders, the causes and the challenges of the Revolutionary War and tells them of the adventures of statesmen, soldiers, sailors, spies, and Native American fighters. Along with all this, it also illustrates how God worked both naturally and supernaturally to build a free nation out of 13 scattered English colonies. masterbooks5

Students will:

Meet over 25  heroes of the War for Independence in this 34-week, Monday through Friday biographical study
Be able to better remember what they learn through stories and pertinent Bible verses
Learn from callouts with comments on the character traits of those spotlighted!

Along with The Fight For Freedom student book, you can also purchase the Biographies of the Revolution teacher book.  You can purchase each of these separately, or as a complete pack for extra savings.materbooks12

The Biographies of the Revolution has been a fantastic addition for us. Given our schedules, I don’t have hours to plan lessons. The teacher books features weekly schedules that has two easy-to manage lessons that combine reading, worksheets, and vocabulary-building opportunities.  They worksheets aren’t long or over-whelming for the students.  Of course you can choose to do them orally, or print the pages.  If you do decide the print the pages, it’s super easy. The worksheets, quizzes and tests are perforated and three-hole punched which makes it easy.  Also, I love the flexibility the schedule offers.  We use this curriculum four days a week and haven’t had trouble at all adjusting the lesson plans to fit our schedule.

Workflow:

Students will read the pages in their book and then complete each section of the Teacher Guide.  They should be encouraged to complete as many of the activities and projects as possible.  Tests are given at regular intervals with space to record each grade.  If used with younger students, they may be given the option of only choosing activities or projects of interest to them and taking open book tests.

All in all we have been very pleased with The Fight for Freedom Curriculum.  You can purchase this set at Masterbooks.
