Baked Spaghetti
Whether or not one is allergic to gluten, research has shown that a diet free of gluten promotes a healthy lifestyle by indirectly eliminating a large amount of fat and sugar found in gluten-rich foods. Those who avoid gluten also tend to enjoy easier digestion, more energy, and lower cholesterol levels. Luckily, there is no reason that a gluten-free diet should mean no pasta. Fischer & Wieser Mom’s Sauces, poured over a piping hot plate of brown-rice pasta, are a delicious way to get that hearty pasta meal without any of the health risks.
Mom’s Sauces come in the following 8 varieties:
- Fresh Garlic & Basil Spaghetti Sauce
- Special Marinara Sauce
- Puttanesca Spaghetti Sauce
- Martini Pasta Sauce
- Spicy Arrabiata
- Artichoke Heart & Asiago Cheese Pasta Sauce
- Organic Traditional Pasta Sauce
- Organic Roasted Pepper Pasta Sauce
What Our Family Thought About Mom’s Pasta Sauce:
We had the opportunity to try out the Special Marinara Sauce and the Fresh Garlic & Basil Spaghetti Sauce. I have yet to try the Marinara Sauce but after testing out the Fresh Garlic & Basil Spaghetti Sauce I can’t wait. This pasta sauce is absolutely amazing! I used it this weekend to make Baked Spaghetti for my little guys first birthday party and everyone loved this sauce. It literally looked homemade. I had a fantastic flavor and whole cloves of garlic and even basil in it. Nothing skimpy like one would find in some of the top brands out there. I admit that I was a little nervous at first with the huge chunks of garlic since it seems that is something that one either loves or doesn’t. I am personally a huge garlic fan and pleased to say that so were my guests at the party. Everyone commented on how wonderful it was.
Baked Spaghetti
Ingredients
1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (26 ounce) jar meatless spaghetti sauce ( I used the 24oz Jar of Mom’s with no problem)
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
5 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups Low-fat small curd cottage cheese
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
- Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and seasoned salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, Parmesan cheese and butter. Drain spaghetti; add to egg mixture and toss to coat.
- Place half of the spaghetti mixture in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Top with half of the cottage cheese, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes. Uncover; bake 20-25 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
This is a fantastic product and one that I believe I will start adding as a staple in our family. Sure, it’s a little more expensive than other brands out there, but it’s worth the price! The texture and flavor just can’t be beat!
