This title of this book really brought me a chuckle. My Big Bottom Blessing: How Hating My Body Led To Loving My Life by Teasi Cannon is a story of how Cannon learned to love and embrace her full figure. I can totally relate to her tale of dieting and struggling with body image. She pours out her life story to show you where she came from but also how she gets to where she is now.
About this book:
Teasi Cannon shares her hilarious, yet totally honest battle with body image and exposes the secret that loving the girl in the mirror isn’t about changing how you look, but about changing how you see.
About the Author:
Teasi Cannon Teasi (pronounced Tee See) is married to her best friend, Bill Cannon, and
they have three awesome children: Carli, Ben, and Sam. Teasi has a master’s degree in
pastoral counseling from Liberty Theological Seminary, and is a sought-after speaker who
loves to help women remember who they are in Christ.
I love how honest this book was. I could totally relate to a lot of how the hurtful words of others can affect my way of thinking about myself. The conversations with her ‘inner voices’ were humorous and eye opening at the same time. How many times have I heard those same doubt-inducing voices whispering in my own ears. The major theme I took from this book is the God loves me how I am and made me how I am. I need to live in the moment now and not worry so much about ‘when I’m healthier, older, skinnier, wealthier’. I think Cannon pinpoints a major hangup most of us women have and gives scripture and reflection questions to help you personally work through it. Although the theme is weight you could easily apply to this to any physical attribute that causes you low self esteem.
