The Nesco 6 Qt. 3-in-1 Digital Pressure Cooker is a stainless steel pressure cooker that also functions as a Steamer as well as a Slow Cooker. I was more than excited when asked to give this product a try since almost everyday I am using at least one of these items in meal preparation. Simplicity really is key and I am so ready to get my kitchen uncluttered an eliminate some of the extra. It always seems like am digging for one of the three daily since there is no way that I could possibly leave them all out on my kitchen counter.
The Nesco 3-in-1 cooker is extremely easy to set up to begin using and one thing I noticed right off the bat while preparing a slow cooker meal was that the external part is not hot to the touch. My old slow cooker got extremely hot on the outside and could easily burn a finger if touched. This always made me nervous when the kids would venture around it since they never pay attention and can lay something to close on accident (bread bag). I say bread bag because my daughter has done that and I came into the kitchen shortly after her to find it melted to to the outside part of the slow cooker, which is never a good thing to find.
To take the Nesco 3-in-1 cooker from a slow cooker to a pressure cooker you simply just turn a knob on the top. Up for slow cooker and down for pressure cooker, it is that simple. I have fallen in love with this cooker and has pretty much replaced my pressure cooker, steamer and slow cooker. It is extremely nice to have everything combined into one!
The Nesco 3-in-1 Digital Pressure Cooker is ideal for making healthy and delicious home made soups, stews and chili, fish, chicken and veggies. This truly is a one pot since i can even brown the meat in this cooker prior to combining all the other ingredients that I may need for a dish. In the past I have had to use a regular kitchen pan and then transfer it to the slow cooker once it was brown, which ofcourse gives me more dishes to wash. Here is how easy it is to brown in this cooker. I know I am simply just browning ground venison but I was really impressed at how well this feature worked:
• Pressure cook – Two pressure settings
• Slow cook up to 9-1/2 hours
• Steam – steaming rack included
• Brown – glass cover included
• Warm or reheat food
• 6 – Plus Quart Capacity
• Worry-Free Operation
• Cover locks securely into place.
• Safety steam release prevents cover from being opened until pressure is reduced to a safe level.
Here is a recipe that I made using the Nesco 3-in-1 Digital Pressure Cooker:
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (16 ounce) can chili beans
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
- 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
- 2 (10 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
- 1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning
- 3 whole skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- shredded Mexican Style cheese (optional)
- sour cream (optional)
- crushed tortilla chips (optional)
Directions
1. Place the onion, chili beans, black beans, corn, tomato sauce, beer, and diced tomatoes in a slow cooker. Add taco seasoning, and stir to blend. Lay chicken breasts on top of the mixture, pressing down slightly until just covered by the other ingredients. Set slow cooker for low heat, cover, and cook for 5 hours.
2. Remove chicken breasts from the soup, and allow to cool long enough to be handled. Stir the shredded chicken back into the soup, and continue cooking for 2 hours. Serve topped with shredded Mexican Style cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and crushed tortilla chips, if desired.
