The Plans I Have For You Devotional and Journal #PlansIHave

One of my favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This is such an important verse and a wonderful reminder that God has a plan for all of us.  It’s so important for kids to also remember that God has a special plan for each one of them too.  In the new The Plans I Have For You Devotional and Journal from ZonderKidz is perfect!

It’s a 90 day devotional created to help kids think about what God has planned for their lives. I have found this is the perfect way for my eight-year old to learn to read a devotional and follow a journal along with it.

The devotional is an illustrated 90-day devotional written by bestselling children’s book author Amy Parker and illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, teaching and inspiring kids to dream about their future, to focus on faith, love, and joy, and recognize that God has a plan and purpose for each and every one of us.

Both of my boys have enjoyed reading the daily devotionals from this book. This hardcover devotional has short daily lessons and recommended for ages 8-12.  Since we always do daily devotionals together I wasn’t sure how well my five-year old would understand this book.  So far he has done amazing with it.  The first thing that pulled him in was the illustrations.  They are beautifully done, although I’m not sure how well they would appeal to say a twelve-year old. My eight-year old has enjoyed the illustrations as well.

Part of a new brand in the Zondervan family, The Plans I Have for You journal prompts creative thinking and exploration of the talents and personalities that make us special, and then helps explore how God may use our unique traits to spread love and joy and make the world a better place.12546259_10208780604531618_1033014808_o

The Plans I Have For You Journal is softcover and suggested for ages 11-14, which I can totally understand.  They are reaching that age when it’s easier for them to put their thoughts onto paper.  I am using this amazing journal with my eight-year old and some times he does get stuck on what to write.  I read it a loud to my five-year old and will verbally answer or draw a picture to show more of what he’s talking about it.  He’s really too young for it, but I would never discourage him from speaking or drawing his thoughts as well.  It’s going to be awesome looking back on these when they older for sure.
