PROBAR and National Non-GMO Month! #WIN

I am a major label reader when it comes to anything I purchase for my family and finding products that are Non-GMO is extremely important to me.  Sure, there are times I have to search a little harder to find that particular product but in the end it’s worth it to me to know that my family is getting the best possible nutrition I can give them.

With us being a family that is always on the go as well as sharing a love for biking, camping and hiking. It’s important for me to find a bar to toss into a bag.  One particular bar that I have reached for time and time again is PROBAR.  Not only are these bars AWESOME but they are also Non-GMO Free.

Did you know that in today’s world, genetically modified crops dominate within our food system with over 90% of national corn and soybean production now GMO. It’s an issue that affects all of us, although most know very little about it.  To help get the word and the knowledge out there, this month has been named National Non-GMO Month.  It was created by the non-profit consumer advocacy group, Non-GMO Project in 2010 as a platform for raising awareness of the GMO issue.

PROBAR  is proud to be a Platinum sponsor of Non-GMO Month. The prevalence of GMO’s in our food system is ultimately up to us (consumers) to demand increased transparency and national labeling for GMO products. Especially with Halloween later this month, it’s time for us to think more critically about what we’re encouraging our children to eat:

These are products that even are red flags to my six year old when we are grocery shopping.  I am hoping that the knowledge he is receiving will help him as he gets older in showing him how important it is to fuel the body in the correct way.
