My five-year-old and I have been having fun reading the book Raybot, written by Adam F. Watkins. Raybot is about a lonely robot that is in search of a friend, but not just any friend. He’s on the search for a puppy friend. However, there is one problem…Raybot has no idea what a puppy looks like. He only knows that a puppy says “bark”.Raybot sets out into the world looking for a puppy and on his way, he meets a lot of different animals. With each animal he encounters, he asks if they “bark”. What’s great about this question, is that the animals answer with their own sound. It’s such a great way to introduce little ones to the different animal sounds.
Synopsis:
When an inquisitive robot named Raybot begins to explore Earth, he knows he is supposed to find the thing that goes “bark.” But try as he might, all he can find are things that go “roar” and “oink” and “moo.” Still, Raybot keeps searching, and on the way, he discovers that Earth is full of interesting, friendly creatures. Children will relate to Raybot’s wonder as he discovers new sounds and animals in the world, and adults will appreciate the detail and beauty in the hand-painted illustrations.
Raybot is currently available for $17.99.
