Safety 1st Complete Air Car Seat

When it comes to safety while driving, I always try to find a car seat that will be the safest possible. While on the look for that type of seat, I ran across the new Safety 1st Complete Air Car Seat. Being as I always do my homework on any product, this seat just seemed very impressive. Something that I would feel 100% secure in placing my son in.

Safety 1st Complete Air Car Seat

I am honored to say that we have had the opportunity to review this car seat. My son was excited when it first arrived and had to set in it in the living room for about 2 days until we were able to get it into the car. Everyone that came to visit, he had to show them his new car seat. Of course he was going at the time based on the looks of his new seat, and I am concerned with safety first and then his comfort. Being as we travel a lot with him, I want something that is going to keep him comfortable for a typical 7 hour car ride. I think I have found it in this seat.

We have been using the Safety 1st Complete Air Car Seat for approx. a month. My review was originally scheduled to go up on Thursday, but I chose to hold off until today. The reason being is that we decided to take a last minute trip to Williamsburg, VA. That is an 8 1/2 hour drive for us, and I chose to hold off so that I could address the comfort issue. Sure, he never complains while riding in it around home but the longest he is in it at one time would be around 30 minutes. So I was excited to put it to the test.Safety 1st Complete Air Car Seat1

First off, I will address the comfort and head into the safety aspects of this particular seat. The seat really gives his bottom extra padding and it also has a lower back pad that always helps to keep him comfortable while riding. For the entire trip, not one time did he complain that his bottom hurt from setting nor did he act like he was uncomfortable. In fact, he actually slept 2 hours out of the 8-hour trip which is amazing for him! Then the rest of the time he just played and sang in his car seat. Here are a couple of pictures from the trip.

Now, I know alot of you may be concerned about how much they can really see with the side impact cushions. It hasn’t seemed to bother my son and he is able to see everything out his window that he was able to see prior to this seat. The reason I wanted to mention this, is because when my mom looked at his seat, the first thing she said was that he can’t see around the side impact cushions. So that is clearly not the case. Sure, there are times he leans his head forward if he wants to continue to look at something as we pass, but he can alot of times see things before I can.

Another feature that I love about this seat, other than the comfort is that is has a cup holder that I can keep on or remove. This comes in handy as his previous seat did not offer a cup holder. Although I am still trying to convince him to use the cup holder, it is still a great feature. Once he gets used to placing his cup in it instead of yelling for me to get it, it will be fantastic!

Protection

Being that side impact collisions are among the deadliest type of collision for children, accounting for one in three child crach fatalities, nearly all are caused my head trauma. The new Air Prtect Technology has been designed to defend against the this thread. With the correct placement of the Air Protect Technology on the car seat, it diverts crash forces away from a child’s head, the most vulnerable place in a side impact crash!

Weight Limits:

I am sure that many of you began like we did and started out with an infant/carrier type car seat and then once they reached a year old, went up to a front facing or convertible car seat. The convertible car seats make it possible for the child to set rear or forward facing, but as we all know the child has to meet the minimun weight requirements to be able to set forward facing. The reasoning behind this is because their necks and muscles aren’t as defined. It is much more dangerous for them to face foward when they aren’t ready to be placed that way. Luckily my son had reached that weight limit at the age of one because he gets really bad car sick. So it was always terrible traveling with him for any length of time while facing backwards.

The great thing about this seat is that it is for weight ranges 5-50 pounds, which is a huge weight range. My 2 1/2 year old is just at 29 pounds so I can see him getting alot of use out of this particular seat! With the Safety 1st Air Protect, your little one can sit rearfacing from 5 to 40 pounds. Forward facing, the maximum limit is 50 pounds and 45″.

  • Air Protect Revolutionary Side Impact: Breakthrough system shields the head and immediately reduces side impact forces through the precise release of air.
  • Travel Stages: Rear Facing (5-40 pounds) Front Facing (22-50 pounds)
  • Adjustable Headrest: 5-position headrest easily accommodates growing children. I also love how easy this is to adjust. The seat we had prior to this one, we actually had to take the seat out to adjust the head rest position.
  • Quick Fit Harness System: Adjust harness height from the front in one easy step without having to remove the carseat from the car. Harness accommodates children up to 50 pounds. This is a fantastic part of this seat. We realized that the harness needed to be adjusted once we put our son in it and it was so easy to do it while the seat was left in the car.
  • One Click LATCH System: Single Click System allows for faster and easier installation when moving between vehicles.

The Safety 1st Air Protect is available in Mckenna (Black/Grey) or Harvest (Brown/Orange). I have the Harvest and love the colors! The MSRP is $249.99.
