I will be the first to admit that I love to bake.  Our family doesn’t eat a lot of baked goods and so when I get the opportunity to bake for an event, you better believe I am super excited!! Recently I checked out an pretty awesome new cookbook, Sally’s Baking Addiction: Irresistible Cookies, Cupcakes, and Desserts for Your Sweet-Tooth Fix and it is AMAZING!!!

Sally McKenney

Named by Huffington Post as one of the “Top 10 Food Blogs to Watch” in 2013, Sally’s Baking Addiction has skyrocketed in popularity since its inception in late 2011.  Baking addict and food blogger, Sally McKenney loves to bake.  Her famous Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate cookies won Nestle’s Dark Chocolate contest in 2013, and now, in her first cookbook, Sally shares her baking secrets with fans.

This book is packed with 75 of Sally’s mouthwatering recipes.  It includes plenty of sugary goodness in addition to a chapter of healthier dessert options for those who follow a vegan or gluten-free lifestyle.  Before you know it, you will be able to master her:

  • No-Bake Peanut Butter Banana Pie
  • Dark Chocolate Butterscotch Cupcakes
  • Marshmallow Swirl S’mores Fudge
  • Sunshine Lemon Cupcakes
  • Caramel Coffee Chocolate Chip Torte
Featuring a brand new selection of desserts and treats never seen on her blog.

This book is packed full of delicious and simple desserts.  I have tried a few of them and they have all turned out fantastic!  My seven year old can’t tolerate gluten so we do a lot of gluten-free foods in our home and those were the first recipes I tried since a lot of times, gluten-free is hard to get just right.  We were very pleased with the outcome of these recipes and when I have taken them places they always receive rave reviews!!

I chose a lighter recipe to share with you that I think would make a great addition to any family gathering or cookout this Spring.

Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Pie

There are plenty of pie recipes in this book, but this pink stunner has got to be the easiest.
All you need is 4 ingredients, a pan, and a freezer. That’s right, you don’t even need an
oven! I’ve made this no-bake pie with all different flavors of frozen yogurt, but simple
strawberry is my favorite. Creamy and cool, this lightened-up pie hits the spot on a warm
summer day

Crust
1/4 cup (60g) butter, melted
1 ½ cups (135g) gluten-free Graham cracker crumbs (11–12 full-sheet gluten-free Graham
crackers, see Sally Says, right)

Filling
1 x 8oz container fat-free frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 quart (480g) strawberry frozen yogurt, softened
Light whipped cream and strawberries, to decorate (optional)

1 Make the crust: Combine the melted butter and Graham cracker crumbs in a medium
bowl. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of an 8in springform pan.
Set aside.

2 Make the filling: In a large bowl, stir the frozen whipped topping and frozen yogurt
together until softened and combined evenly. Spoon the mixture into the prepared crust.
Cover and freeze for about 6 hours or overnight. Garnish with light whipped cream and
strawberries, if desired. This pie melts rather quickly, so slice it immediately before serving.
The pie may be made 1 day in advance

Sally Say’s: You need to use gluten-free Graham Crackers if you want this dessert to be truly gluten-free. If you aren’t gluten-intolerant, however you can easily swap the gluten-free Graham Crackers for the regular.  Either way, it’s fantastic!!

All in all I have been very pleased with this recipe book.  It’s fully illustrated and bound in a sturdy hardcover which makes it easier for cooking.  Not only is this book well made but it’s packed full of dozens of simple, easy-to-follow recipes.

Sally’s Baking Addiction has a SRP of $25.00 but is currently available on Amazon for $15.81 and is totally worth the price!!
