Did you know that 60% of Americans cannot name five of the ten commandments? There have been similar surveys that have also shown that scripture illiteracy is at an all-time high. With the release of a new children’s music project CD titled Scripture Memory Songs For Kids and Families, Jennifer Shaw is hoping to change that.
Bible study is part of our daily lives, but I admit that I am guilty of not teaching the boys Bible verses. When I was growing up as part of our youth group, we were asked to memorize a bible verse every week. 39 years later, some of those are still with me, but others I have forgotten. We do tag special verses in our home and my boys are at the key age to start remembering them and that’s one of the reasons I love this new CD. Putting scripture to song or even Bible stories to songs helps when it comes to remembering them when it comes to adults and children. The Scripture Memory Songs for Kids and Families features 30 word-for-word scripture songs from the NIV of the Bible. As most of us know, the NIV version is the second most popular version according to American Bible Society, surpassed only by the King James. This CD also includes nine bonus Christian theme songs suitable for VBS curriculum or for other kids-themed events.
