Sometimes It’s Storks

Synopsis:

L.J.R Kelly’s new picture book, illustrated by the talented team of the Brothers Hilts, tackles the elusive topic of where babies come from with some much-needed quirky humor.

From the gluttonous stork to the helpful hermit crab, Kelly imagines a hysterical cast of characters that will charm and entertain readers young and old.  His romping rhymes add even more fun to the mix in this joyful read-aloud! Baby delivery is a tricky business: When the top-notch stork is not available, a substitute has to step in. But a delicious-looking fish distracts him, and he misplaces the baby en route. As one animal encountered leads to another, the baby travels the world; up to the North Pole atop a while, to Australia with migrating geese, and to the Brisbane Zoo by kangaroo, before finally landing home.  The Brothers Hilts’ acclaimed artwork will enthrall readers once again, this time with a fresh bright sensibility that suits the excitement and wonder of a new baby.

My Thoughts:
This whimsical tale of how a baby was misplaced when it was to be delivered by a stork is such a fun read. The baby goes on quiet an adventure for sure. The book is filled with beautiful and brightly colored illustrations. I wouldn’t really call it abstract, but it has a similar feel. While reading the book, if you look closely you can find the stork and baby on every page.
