Let’s all be honest here. We have all had to deal with people during the holiday season that may drive us a little nuts, and we grin and bear it. After all, it is the holidays, the time when we spread love and cheer.
I just finished reading Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat, written by Jen Mann. This book was a blast to read and I could totally relate to a lot of things she talks about in this book.
Jen is best known as the writer behind the popular blog, People I Want to Punch in the Throat, whose multi-million person viewership increases every day. This new holiday collection was inspired by her hugely popular post “Overachieving Elf on the Shelf Mommies,” which became massively viral (earning her more than 3.5 million views) and made Jen a literal overnight sensation.
Now Jen turns her focus toward the holidays-both big and small-and nothing is off limits. Jen keeps readers in stitches with her cynical take on the Christmas season, Halloween, Easter and even Flag Day (that’s right, Flag Day).
With chapter titles like, “Doesn’t Everyone Wrap Christmas Presents In Their Underwear?” and “Hey Santa, Keep Your Yuletide Log To Yourself!,” this is a must-read for anyone who has ever tried and failed to keep themselves sane during the holiday season. The entire Mann family provides a comical backdrop for each story with well timed wise cracks and unsolicited truth bombs dropped by her husband “The Hubs” and her two children “Gomer” and “Adolpha”
Wickedly irreverent, while at the same time oddly endearing, this is an ideal collection for anyone who drinks too much at a holiday party, says inappropriate things, and can’t figure out why they aren’t invited back the following year.
This is a definite must-read for this holiday season and most of us can relate to the stories in the book at some point in our lives. It’s reassuring that I’m not the only one out there that has these thoughts. I will say that there are some parts of the book that drag, but overall it’s worth the read!
Spending The Holidays With People I Want To Punch In The Throat is currently available with a SRP of $16.00.

That sounds like a funny book. I’ve never heard of her before. Have a great weekend.
