I recently had a chance to learn about an exciting new summer program called Brain Chase. This is an online activity that focuses on stopping summer learning loss by engaging children in a real life treasure hunt! Kids are encouraged to read, write and do mathematics to unlock clues to a real life treasure hunt, all while having fun along the way! Kids lose ground over the summer in academics and Brain Chase has found a way to keep kids on track all summer long!

My Thoughts:
After hearing all about this program I decided to talk to my kids (12, 14) and it, to see their thoughts. They thought it sounded like a bunch of fun – especially the part where they have a chance to win a real treasure at the end! The program itself looks engaging. I loved that you received trinkets in the mail (last years kids received seeds, a compass and decoder ring) to go along with the online adventure. Another wonderful thing is Brain Chase encourages families to work together on the treasure hunt. I loved that team work mentality. Kids are required to complete the reading, writing and math portions on their own but the graphics and game feel of the program is a big motivator for them to work hard.
