Last week was pretty laid back for us. We didn’t have a lot on the schedule so I was able to knock a few things off my To Do list, which always seems never ending.
Homeschool:
This past week in our homeschool my oldest has continued learning about plants in Science. We headed outdoors for a roots classification hunt where we carefully pulled several plants around our yard and compared the roots. We ended up with bulbs, taproots and fibrous plants.

Reading:
This week we wrapped up Limeny Snicket Book 1 and Charlotte’s Web. At the end of Charlotte’s Web, I let them watch the movie. It’s always fun when they connect the book to the movie.
My little bookworm did get two new picture books this week that we he loves. One is the If You Give A Dog A Donut. The weekend we were at the Color Run my mom bought them the dog for the book. Since that day, he has begged for the book.
If you give a dog a donut, he’ll ask for some apple juice to go with it.
When you give him the juice, he’ll drink it all up.
Then, before you can say “Woof” . . . Dog is off on a backyard adventure!
Another picture book that I have read a million times is Max the Brave. This book is such a fun read! It’s set to release in September, so mark you calendar’s.
Max is a fearless kitten. Max is a brave kitten. Max is a kitten who chases mice. There’s only one problem-Max doesn’t know what a mouse looks like! With a little bit of bad advice, Max finds himself facing a much bigger challenge. Maybe Max doesn’t have to be Max the Brave all the time…
We also started Book Scavenger. So far so good on this book! Davis is really enjoying this book.
For twelve-year-old Emily, the best thing about moving to San Francisco is that it’s the home city of her literary idol: Garrison Griswold, book publisher and creator of the online sensation Book Scavenger (a game where books are hidden in cities all over the country and clues to find them are revealed through puzzles). Upon her arrival, however, Emily learns that Griswold has been attacked and is now in a coma, and no one knows anything about the epic new game he had been poised to launch. Then Emily and her new friend James discover an odd book, which they come to believe is from Griswold himself, and might contain the only copy of his mysterious new game.
We also wrapped up Pedro’s Journal: A Voyage With Christopher Columbus this week as part of our History. Everything else….
Davis loves hanging out in the “man cave” with his dad, and this week while he was out there, he found some scrap wood and made a giraffe. He has painted the hat and here is painting the giraffe. I have to run to the store later this week to pick up some brown paint so he can finish it up. He is proud that he did it all by himself.
While Luke enjoys hanging out in the man cave too, he is a total foodie like me. He loves helping me in the kitchen every chance he gets.
The boys are loving their new school goodies from Yummy World. Davis has a hot dog pencil box…
and Luke has a pizza backpack that is the perfect size to carrying his Kindle. It’s super padded too, so I don’t have to worry about him cracking the screen when he puts it in there.
If you are a Disney fan and haven’t checked out the new movie Descendants, it’s a must see! Davis loved it and to my surprised, Luke enjoyed it too. Inside the DVD case, there is a super cool bracelet.
We also had a wedding to go this past weekend..I think we clean up pretty good.
