I had the chance to review ‘Twas the Late Night of Christmas by Ann Whitford Paul.  This is a clever twist on an old classic.  This book takes place on Christmas Night after all of the excitement of presents, family, food and fun had died down.

About:
In her delightful retelling of the classic poem, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, beloved children’s author, Ann Whitford Paul, gives Mrs. Saint Nick a starring role and the recognition that she deserves.  With the colorful illustrations by Nancy Hayashi, it’s the perfect holiday gift for children and hassled parents, too!

My Thoughts:

I love how the book opens with a accurate description of Christmas night.  When the toys have been open, played with and broken.  Kids are over tired, surgared up and need to go to bed.  Mom and Dad need rest too but there is so much work left.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we had someone to swoop in and save the day?  My kids got a kick out of this book too but I honestly think Mom and Dad will love it best!  A cute read that would be perfect as a reminder of all that happens on that special night.  Who knows maybe it will inspire the kid’s!
