We switched to a Gluten-Free lifestyle for our son several months back when we discovered he was having a hard time tolerating gluten. It affected several areas of his day to day life and since switching gluten-free the changes have been amazing. I admit that we were a little worried about the upcoming holidays since I wanted to insure that we stayed as gluten-free as possible. It can be hard at times when going to a gathering but we have also learned to bring along our favorite gluten-free dishes that seem to blow everyone away.
So many people think that gluten-free foods are bland but that doesn’t have to be the case at all. It’s what you make of it and you can dress a dish up or down depending on the spices and seasonings that you choose to use. Now like most Americans, I don’t always have the time to pull off fresh baked muffins and cookies that are gluten-free so when in a bind I pull out Udi’s. For Christmas morning instead of prepping a casserole the day before which I didn’t have time for, we pulled out Udi’s Cinnamon Rolls and they are AWESOME! Not only was it tasty but it was easy to prepare and didn’t take away from enjoying family time with the kids.
Another Udi’s product that I have to brag about is their gluten-free pizza crusts. Since going gluten-free I still haven’t managed to master my own pizza crust. In the past I have always made my own but I just haven’t found one that I love yet so the boys were super excited when we receive the Udi’s pizza crust to try this month.
We topped ours with our homemade marinara sauce and cheese which is the boys favorite way to enjoy pizza.
The crust got great reviews and it will definitely be a product that we purchase again and again. We did have to go on a hunt in our area in order to locate this product. Different stores in our area carry different Udi’s products so we always have to make note which store to visit for which product but it is so worth it!!
All in all Udi’s has yet to disappoint. We love their breads, muffins, cookies and tortillas. We were at a gathering the other day and they had little sandwiches. My six year old got one and after one bite, brought it to me and said he didn’t like it because it wasn’t gluten-free. It’s nice to know that they actually prefer gluten-free over products. I know the taste has a play in their opinion as well as how much better it makes them feel when they don’t eat the gluten. It wasn’t an easy transition but in the long run was worth ever minute!!
If you are currently gluten-free or at some point need to go gluten-free, hands down I would recommend Udi’s over a lot of companies out there! Not only is the quality outstanding but I love the fact that they are a non-GMO company!
